National Programs

Delta Dental Premier Network
Delta Dental Premier is our largest fee-for-service national network and most widely purchased program in the country with about 117,000 participating dentists. In South Dakota, the Delta Dental Premier network includes approximately 95 percent of practicing dentists in South Dakota. Patients who enroll in a Premier Product have the freedom to visit any dentist they choose and will not pay more than the patient portion specified in their company's benefit plan.

Delta Dental PPO National Network
Even though Delta Dental of South Dakota has only the Delta Dental Premier network, Delta Dental PPO is a national PPO network with about 56,000 participating dentists practicing in 86,000 locations. This network is available to any employer group looking for an alternative to our traditional fee-for-service dental program. It offers additional cost savings to employer groups with options for enhanced benefits and a greater fee discount to plan members who choose a Delta Dental PPO Network Dentist. Because South Dakota does not currently offer this product you are not automatically participating in the Delta Dental PPO National Participating Dentist Network.

Participation in the Delta Dental PPO network requires an additional agreement between Delta Dental and the dentist. The agreement states that the participating dentist will accept payments based on the Delta Dental PPO fee maximum, which is discounted, rather than Delta Dental's standard reimbursement. Subscribers will have an employee ID card that identifies the subscriber as participating in the plan.

DeltaCare Network
Delta Dental of South Dakota does not currently offer a DeltaCare network. DeltaCare is however, a national dental health maintenance organization (DHMO). DHMOs have the potential to contain and more importantly, reduce dental costs. In other states where DeltaCare networks are available, patients who sign up for DeltaCare are given a choice from within the network, in selecting a primary care dentist who provides comprehensive care. Primary care dentists are reimbursed through a combination of fixed monthly payments, lab fee supplements, specialty payments, and subscriber co-payments that are collected at the time of the patient's visit.

State Programs
